Je voudrais savoir si on dit to commute by metro ou on metro en anglais quand on veut dire qu'on fait la navette en métro pour aller à son travail. merci de bien vouloir me répondre.

Hello,
I would say "by metro".
On foot : à pied.
By car/metro/train/plane : en voiture/métro/train/avion

Hi!
Metro sounds French or maybe, American English. I would say : I commute (from X to Y) using the tube. Or perhaps "using the subway". I can say "I am on the bus" or "I am on the train". I can also say "I'm coming by bus" or "by train" Can I say "I am on the tube"? I think I can't because "tube" or "subway" refers more to a way than to a vehicle. However, I can say :I am on the road, meaning "en route". So, it's a bit confusing.
That's the reason why I would choose a different way to state the idea. Putting both "by" and "on" on the side, I rather would say, "using the tube". Any better idea?

As you may note, there are different ways to say this. lullabies is correct that there are different types of 'metro' and one must use the name specific to the city one is referring to.
London: the Underground or "the tube" (the latter used informally in the UK)
Glasgow: the Underground
Moscow: the Metro
Paris: the Metro
Budapest: the Metro
New York: the Subway
One can use either upper or lower case to refer to these usually although some consider them proper nouns/names which require uppercase i.e. 'the Underground' or 'the underground'.
Thus: "How do you get to work?"
I take the Underground/Tube/Metro/Subway. (the best spoken answer)
I go on the Underground/Tube/Metro/Subway.
I commute using the Underground/Tube/Metro/Subway (this sounds a little heavy)
I commute by Underground/Tube/Metro/Subway.
Also:
I read (while) on the Underground/Tube/Metro/Subway.
"I can't hear you. I'm on the tube. I'll call you later."
