    Résumé/Hitchcock
    Message de etoilefilante83 posté le 17-11-2009 à 20:56:34 (S | E | F)

Bonsoir, j'aimerais avoir une correction de ce résumé. En vous remerciant d'avance.

    North by Northwest (Hitchcock)

    The story :

Mr. Thornill is a buisness man. He's about forty. (j'aimerai dire qu'il a un sexe à pile)
In the movie, he joines several colleagues in a Plazza Hotel to lunch. Two men believes that his name is George Kaplan :they makes a mistake of man. (ils se trompent d'homme)
Mr. Thornill is so kidnaped and he brought in the Townsend's house.
Mr.Townsend took the identity of the real Mr. townsend who works in the Nation Unies.
    It's so a swindler !
However, men of Mr Townsend like Leonard, his right hand man, force Mr. Thornill to drink a glace of Bourbon. Finally, he was tipsy and he's arrested by the Police : he drove a stolen car. In the Police station, anybody believe him : for them, it's a guilty, he sould be judge ! He should pay lots of money, it's a fine . Then, He goes to lead alone the investigation. he want find George Kaplan ! During the investigation, he met a woman and he fell in love !
This woman investigate on Mr Townsend: It's a spy !
So George Kaplan is a fiction to erase suspicions .

    Hello,
    Vous dites:
    (j'aimerai dire qu'il a un sexe à pile)
cela existera peut-être un jour mais pour le moment il me semble que vous voulez parler de sex-appeal, enfin j'espère,pour ...eux !
    No comment please !

    > joins ... to lunch -> "for lunch" (and other meals)

    > they makes a mistake of man
This needs to be something like
They mistake him for someone else. They make a mistake about who he is.
    They get the wrong man.
The idioms are "make a mistake about (subject)" and "to mistake x for y". (example: they mistook George W Bush for Albert Einstein.)

    > Mr Thornill is so kidnapped
    - needs to be "So Mr Thornhill is kidnapped..."
    - not to be confused with "so" meaning very, extremely, before an adjective, as in "He was so/very/extremely sorry" (an intensifier)

I think the character's name in the movie is spelled Thornhill.

    > in the Nation Unies - at/for the United Nations or at/in the United Nations' building

    > It's so a swindler ! - don't understand this

    > men of Mr Townsend -> has to be Mr Townsend's men

    > drink a glace -> glass

    > Finally, he was tipsy and he's arrested by the Police :
    - need "eventually" here as it is not the end of the story

"tipsy" means mildly drunk, just a little bit drunk. If you think he was more than a little bit drunk then simply say "drunk".

Tenses consistent: he's arrested -> he was arrested

    > In the Police station, anybody believe him -> nobody believed him (nobody with negative statements), tenses should be consistently past throughout or consistently present throughout (special narrative present)

    > it's a guilty -> he is guilty
    - ? "he should be judged"?

    > He should pay lots of money, it's a fine - [?] perhaps "he should pay a big fine"

    word order:
Then, He goes to lead alone the investigation. -> he goes alone to lead ...

    > he want find George Kaplan ! -> "wants to find"

    >This woman investigate on Mr Townsend. [?]
    - perhaps "this woman is spying for Mr Townsend"
(and "investigate" isn't followed by a preposition. example: "police investigated the murder of the TV presenter Jill Dando.")

    > It's a spy. - would have to be "she's a spy" (she is not an inanimate object so "she" not "it")

    > So George Kaplan is a fiction to erase suspicions - need to think about what you want to say here as "erase" is not idiomatic.

    Bonjour

Mr. Thornill is a buisness business man. He's in his forties. (j'aimerai dire qu'il a un sexe à pile)
In the movie, he joins several colleagues in a Plazza Hotel to for lunch. Two men believes that his name is George Kaplan :they makes a mistake of man they make a mistake about who he is(cf: cecil_ward). (ils se trompent d'homme)
Mr. Thornill is so kidnaped and he brought So Mr. Thornill is kidnapped and brought to the Townsend's house.
Mr.Townsend took the identity of the real Mr. townsend who works in for the Nation Unies.
It's so a swindler !(Le "so doit être placé devant pour garder le sens de la phrase correct, sinon cela voudrait dire "c'est tellement un escrot", qui devrait être traduit par He is such a swindler)
However, men of Mr Townsend (cf cecil) like such as Leonard, his right hand man(je pense que man est facultatif ici), force Mr. Thornill to drink a glace of Bourbon. Finally, he was tipsy and he's arrested by the Police : he drove a stolen car(je ne suis pas sur de comprendre l'utilisation des ":", je propose donc la traduction suivante "because he was driving a stolen car"). In the Police station, anybody believe (cf cecil)him : for them, it's a guilty, and he (à supprimer) should be judged ! He should pay lots of money, it's a fine (cf: cecil) . Then, He goes to lead alone the investigation. he want find George Kaplan (cf:cecil) ! During the investigation, he met a woman and he fell in love! (attention aux temps, comme le mentionne cecil il faut bien choisir son temps et s'y tenir)This woman is/was investigating on Mr Townsend: It's a spy !
So George Kaplan is a fiction (which main theme is to get rid of) (juste une proposition je suis pas sur de comprendre la tournure de la phrase) suspicions .

    En espérant t'avoir aidé,

    amicalement

    LoLo
