You know, there was a time when children helped their parents. In the economic context, the current tendency is reversed! I know since that(à moins que vous ayez écrit since that à l'envers) you lost your job, it is(mauvais choix de temps après since) difficult.

However, I'm not sure 'the economic context' makes much sense. Maybe it would be better to say:
In the context of the economy...
