Bonjour à tous
Quelqu'un pourrait-il me dire pourquoi cette phrase est fausse, du moins le ON devant Bora Bora?
(I was on holiday on Bora Bora)
Je vous remercie pour vos réponses.

Hello,
I suggest that you can stay on Bora Bora Island, or stay in Bora Bora.

Hello, yvser:
you can say "I was on holiday on Bora Bora" since that is the name of the island.
In current British English usage, we say "I was on holiday on Guernsey/Jersey/Lundy/Skye/Lindisfarne . . . . " or any of the islands that are part of the British Isles.
We don't ever say "I was on holiday on Guernsey Island" though we might, occasionally, say "I was on holiday on the island of Guernsey/Jersey/Lundy etc.. . . .".
If we were to say "I was on holiday ON Bora Bora" our interlocutors would understand that we meant on the island.
If we were to say "I was on holiday IN XXXX" our interlocutors would understand that we meant IN a town or city.
So now the decision is yours. Copy the current British English usage - or - ?
I'm sure other English-speaking countries of the world have their own ways of saying things, which are just as valid, to them.
Best of luck.
Kadzona
